Mon, 2 March 2009 Join us Sunday for a conversation with P.W. Singer, author of Wired for War: The Robotics Revolution and Conflict in the 21st Century, a look at real-world robots and how they’re defending America — and killing people — on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. Singer argues that, as a society, we need to start taking the moral and political issues of robots on the battlefield seriously. It’s a fascinating book, I’m reading it now. I interviewed Singer for InformationWeek. Join us at 6 pm Pacific/Second Life Time Sunday, March 8, at the Seaside Theater on World2Worlds Island, or catch the podcast here later. And in coming weeks: March 22 at 6 pm, we’ll talk to Kerria Seabrooke and Paul Jannicola, two machinimists with the Ill Clan, whose Second Life machinima includes Tiny Nation, about a group of gentle backyard creatures and their plot to kill the human residents of the suburban home they live behind. Ill Clan also did the machimima for last year’s the Second Life-based episode of the TV show CSI: New York. April 5 at 6 pm, we’ll bring you two of the people behind the Web sitcom The Guild, which follows the real lives (such as they are) of a guild of players in a medieval massively multiplayer online game. Our guest Felicia Day stars on The Guild, as well as writes and produces it. Previously, she appeared as Penny on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog, as well as a recurring role as Vi, the potential slayer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Also joining us will be Kim Evey, who produces The Guild, she’s an actor and producer whose credits include Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show. Her company, LKG Productions also produces other webisodes including Two Hot Girls in the Shower. She appeared on Boston Legal, ER, Journeyman, Shark, and more. blog comments powered by Disqus
